Thumbs Up – vol.2

Thumbs Up – vol.2

The magical and mysterious. One of the smallest and the wealthiest countries in the world. Situated in the picturesque Upper Rhine valley. With less than 40 thousands inhabitants, top education system, low taxes and near to zero crime rate Liechtenstein is desirable place to live. Definitely worth to visit too.

Overall Experience 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️ out of FIVE

ROADS  pretty good and cyclists friendly
ACCOMMODATIONS – an average price for a single bed (hostel) in two persons room €50.

– The modern art sculptures are scattered all over this tiny country
– There is no airport in the country. The nearest one is in Switzerland – the St. Gallen–Altenrhein Airport
– The country uses the Swiss franc for its currency

Hills, hills and more hills. Squeezed between Germany, France, Italy and Austria this tiny country represents the wealth, high standard of living and of course…the Swiss cheese. Since I have weakens for sweets I need to mention the Frey ‘Branches’ chocolate logs. Oh my, are they ever good… Overall, I had a blast in Switzerland, met great people and left with the full chest-box of memories.

Overall Experience 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️ out of FIVE .

ROADS  immaculate, with the very well marked biking trails
ACCOMMODATIONS – not too many campsites

– Swiss are very outdoorsy, unbelievable number of cyclists, many riding the e-bikes. The bike service is quite expensive
– It is not easy to wild camp, be creativity and you’ll be fine
– The Bitcoin can be purchased in a vending machine
– Did you know the Velcro was invented in Switzerland

Zurich, Switzerland
While enjoying the Swiss cheese fondue you can enhance your appetite with a purchase of bitcoin

Although I met a great people, slept in the chateau or under the cherry tree I have mixed feelings about today’s France or perhaps I should be more specific – PARIS. The City of Lights reminded me the city of garbage. This mainly applies to the north or north-east end of the city. I honestly couldn’t believe my own eyes… Sad, but true. It is a beautiful country, rich in history, incredible dining options, but…

Overall Experience 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️ out of FIVE

ROADS – slightly disappointing, I expected more from the Tour de France host
AFFORDABILITY – as long you stick to the Camping Municipal grounds you’ll be just fine. There are fairly good, inexpensive and with all the amenities you need. The private ones? Hmm… they’re more ‘shiny’ but many will dissect your wallet to bits and pieces. For instance the access to WiFi or the hot water is extra. There are few private campsites, which can even charge the campsite visitors fee.

– Great and friendly people
– Superb pastry, wine (champagne) and of course the cheese
– The presence of military and police around the main tourist attractions is now a permanent reality
– Many campground toilets lack of a toilet paper. Figure this one out!

The water bottles are completely overrated
This will do for breakfast

An expensive destination to visit, but if you’re buddy lives there than you’re smiling . An awesome place to spend few days. The history of this small country goes back to late 10th century.

Overall Experience 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️ out of FIVE

ROADS – easy access, but fair number of hills to keep in mind.
AFFORDABILITY – expensive, but is it really? A good seven years old merlot you can purchase for €10-12.

– The cheese selection (Auchan ) is outstanding. I have never seen that anywhere else, even in France.
– walking friendly, very safe and clean

Fire hydrant in the city of Luxembourg

Hard to believe, that few years back I wasn’t really excited about Brussels. Now? I simply love it… the hospitality of Belgian people (French and Flemish side of the country) was outstanding.

Overall Rating 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️ out of FIVE

ROADS – the bicycle ways (south of Brussels) need to be maintained
ACCOMMODATIONS – not easy to off road camp, but possible to get free accommodations if you only ask.
AFFORDABILITY – the capital can be pricey, but with some lack you can save a buck.

– Waterloo is actually within the Belgian borders. Highly recommend to visit the battlefield museum.
– Waffles, waffles, waffles – chocolate, chocolate, chocolate
– Belgium Beer and Fritas, treat to die for.

Oh yeah!
